Twenty-five thousand German citizens gathered in Berlin on Saturday – the start of "International Green Week" – to call for a food and farming revolution.
The concerned citizens were seeking fundamental reforms in agricultural policy, crying: "We are fed up! Good food. Good agriculture. Now!".
Farmers and consumers marched together to reject the current trend towards ever-industrialising agriculture. Their banners highlighted the raw truths of intensive farming: animal abuse, environmental destruction and damaged livelihoods in developing countries.
