Compassion in World Farming won the CBS Outdoor Big Bus Challenge yesterday evening, as our advert, designed by Elvis Communications, was chosen from among hundreds of entries.
The win, which comes hot on the heels of our Best Campaigner accolade at the Observer Ethical Awards, is a huge boost to our campaign against long distance live animal transport.
The advert, which makes it look as though sheep are crammed on to the bus alongside the text "For many, it's standing room only for the next 30 hours. Stop Live Exports", will be displayed on buses across the capital.
Compassion's Director of Public Affairs, Joyce D'Silva, says: "Elvis has created a fantastic advert, which really hits home to commuters and tourists how cruel long distance live animal transport is.
We hope it will encourage people to support our campaign against this horrendous trade. We're thrilled with this win, as we were up against competition from big multinational companies."
The winner was announced at a glitzy ceremony at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden. It has not yet been decided when the adverts will go live but when they do, they are sure to make an impact and make a valuable contribution to ending long distance live animal transport for good.
