Compassion in World Farming is the proud winner of this year's Derek Cooper Special Award for Best Food Campaigner/Educator 2007.

The BBC Radio Food and Farming Awards celebrate the people and organisations working to promote good food and farming in Britain. Compassion in World Farming's Chief Executive, Philip Lymbery and Head of Media Annabel Davis, attended the award ceremony in Birmingham on 28 November and enjoyed an evening surrounded by prominent figures in the food and farming industry.

Philip Lymbery said: "This prestigious award is a real tribute to everyone at Compassion in World Farming. Thanks to the hard-work that goes into our campaigns, Compassion in World Farming has remained central to the food and farming debate for decades."

"We are thrilled by this truly venerable recognition of the tireless campaigning and lobbying efforts that go into our work. My sincere thanks go out to all of our committed supporters and campaigners, winning this award would not have been possible without you."

The ceremony, hosted by The Food Programme presenter Sheila Dillon, will be broadcast in a special awards edition of The Food Programme on 30 November on Radio 4 at midday. If you miss the programme you will be able to listen again by visiting the Radio 4 website:
